Spring Gardeniser Pro training course

Join us for a 10 week course starting on 19th March - 21st May to become a licensed Gardeniser (Garden-organiser).

Comprised of 2 whole days in person (the first and last sessions) here at Oxford City Farm, and 8 weeks of 2 hour online zoom sessions (with a 2 week break for Easter) 1-3pm.

What will you learn?

The course is run over three modules;

  1. Understanding and creating the Community Garden (history, types, design, variety)

    • Overview and history of community gardens/city and care farms

    • How to consult communities

    • How to find the right site

    • How to design your project

2. Working effectively with staff and volunteers

  • Techniques to support people

  • How to welcome a diverse community of people

  • How to increase well-being on the site

  • Negotiating and mediation

3. Financial Sustainability

  • Understanding costs and budgeting

  • Creating an action plan for your community garden

  • Explore different ways to bring in income

  • Evaluating your project

  • Organisation health check

If you are interested in becoming a Gardeniser please fill in this form. The cost of the course is £350 and you will receive a Gardeniser Pro license once all of the classroom and practical work is fulfilled and you have passed the test. Thanks to Community Action Groups Oxfordshire we have several reduced rate places available, if you would like to be considered for a bursary please let us know on your application.
