We need a new Treasurer Trustee - recruitment open until 22 July 2025
Are you our next Treasurer?
We have an exciting opportunity to join the Board of Trustees at Oxford City Farm.
Oxford City Farm is a dynamic, registered charity (and company limited by guarantee) that brings the health, social, and environmental benefits of urban community farming to Oxford.
We are eight years into a 40-year lease on a 2.5-acre site in the heart of East Oxford and, with the support of funders and our community, have transformed our green space into a thriving city farm. The farm welcomes volunteers and visitors, hosts nurture groups, and delivers vibrant community events.
In addition to our outdoor growing spaces, we have four large polytunnels for extended seasonal growing, a recently installed yurt providing a sheltered meeting space, and a fabulous community kitchen. In response to community feedback, we have also increased the variety of animals on site, which now include pigs, sheep, chickens, bees – and goats!
At Oxford City farm being a Trustee is a hands on affair - we work together with staff and in consultation with our volunteers and beneficiaries to set the strategic direction of the Farm, and support a small paid staff team and key volunteers to realise identified objectives.
What we are looking for
A new Treasurer to help us steer our finances and support the delivery of our strategy and mission at board level. You don’t need to have previous experience as a Treasurer of a charity – training and a handover with our outgoing Treasurer can be provided.
We are particularly keen to strengthen our financial oversight as we grow, ensuring robust systems are in place and that our financial strategy supports long-term sustainability. If you have skills in finance, accounting, or budgeting, and are excited by the idea of applying them to a grassroots community charity, we’d love to hear from you.
We are also committed to ensuring our board reflects the voices and diversity of our community. If you have the right skills and attitude but are seeking experience in the charity sector, please do get in touch.
Time commitment is approx 6-8 hour per month to include monthly Trustee meetings and support of working groups.
