Description of the role

The main role of the Cafe and Produce Co-Lead is to support staff in managing the cafe and produce stall, helping create a warm, welcoming experience for visitors while promoting local, seasonal food. This role is ideal for people who enjoy working with others, learning about food and farming, and being part of a community-focused environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Welcome visitors and provide friendly, helpful customer service

  • Assist with preparing and serving drinks and simple café food

  • Set up, stock, and run the farm produce stall

  • Handle sales of farm products

  • Operate the payment device and handle cash/card payments (training provided)

  • Share basic information about produce, the farm, and growing practices

  • Keep the café and stall areas clean, organised, and presentable

  • Support opening, closing, and pack-down of outdoor areas

  • Follow food hygiene, health & safety, and farm policies at all times (training provided)

Volunteer requirements:

  • Available during public sessions, Saturdays, 9:30am - 1:30pm (or half shifts) at least once a month

  • Comfortable working outdoors in different weather conditions

  • Ability to stand for extended periods

  • Comfortable working in a busy café environment

  • Friendly, reliable, and positive attitude

  • Willingness to learn and work as part of a team

  • Good communication skills

  • Ability to follow instructions and food safety guidelines

  • Experience in hospitality, catering, food prep, barista or customer service (Desirable)

  • Interest in farming, sustainability, or local food (Desirable)
