Description of the role
The main role of the Cafe and Produce Co-Lead is to support staff in managing the cafe and produce stall, helping create a warm, welcoming experience for visitors while promoting local, seasonal food. This role is ideal for people who enjoy working with others, learning about food and farming, and being part of a community-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Welcome visitors and provide friendly, helpful customer service
Assist with preparing and serving drinks and simple café food
Set up, stock, and run the farm produce stall
Handle sales of farm products
Operate the payment device and handle cash/card payments (training provided)
Share basic information about produce, the farm, and growing practices
Keep the café and stall areas clean, organised, and presentable
Support opening, closing, and pack-down of outdoor areas
Follow food hygiene, health & safety, and farm policies at all times (training provided)

Volunteer requirements:
Available during public sessions, Saturdays, 9:30am - 1:30pm (or half shifts) at least once a month
Comfortable working outdoors in different weather conditions
Ability to stand for extended periods
Comfortable working in a busy café environment
Friendly, reliable, and positive attitude
Willingness to learn and work as part of a team
Good communication skills
Ability to follow instructions and food safety guidelines
Experience in hospitality, catering, food prep, barista or customer service (Desirable)
Interest in farming, sustainability, or local food (Desirable)
