Exciting news! We've got three years of funding from the National Lottery Community Fund.

A big thank you to the National Lottery players that made the Community Fund possible. We can’t wait to offer more community farming sessions to empower people to produce food locally and live sustainable lives.

We are thrilled to announce that Oxford City Farm is one of the lucky organisations to be awarded a three-year grant from the National Lottery Reaching Communities Fund which aims to support local projects making a real difference to people’s lives.

Covid-19 highlighted the need to address spiralling rates of lifestyle-related disease and underlying health inequalities which impact the poorest and most disadvantaged people in society disproportionately. Since its launch 6 years ago, Oxford City Farm has provided a safe outdoor space where a farming model and integrated outdoor & kitchen projects are used to promote a healthier, more resilient and connected community.

What will we be doing with the funding?

We will be using the funding to increase the number of community farming and field to fork cooking sessions we offer. It will enable us to invite more volunteers to the farm to learn new skills, share knowledge and feel part of a meaningful community project. And, we will also be able to offer more targeted sessions with community groups to learn about growing fresh food and leading more sustainable lives.

In 2021, we offered 61 volunteering sessions that enabled us to produce and harvest 535kg of produce from our 2.3 acre site and share this with our volunteers, local food larder and over-60s lunch club, as well as local groups that use our site. This funding will enable us to double the number of community farming sessions that we offer and is hoped will also lead to higher yields produced by the farm for the local community.
