Our 2.3-acre working farm, located in East Oxford, is a registered charity dedicated to connecting people of all ages with the wonders of farm life, sustainable food production, and the beauty of nature. What We Offer:

When you join Oxford City Farm, you become a part of a friendly and supportive team working in the heart of Oxford. Here's what you can expect:

  • Training: We provide internal training related to animal husbandry, community farming, and working with young people. Additionally, external training opportunities are available in areas such as permaculture, first aid, and working with children and young people.

  • Pension: You'll be enrolled in the NEST pension scheme, with a 5% contribution from the employer and 3% from the employee.

  • Annual Leave: Enjoy 33 days of annual leave per year, including bank holidays, pro-rata based on your FTE.

The Role: Volunteer Development Coordinator

As a Volunteer Development Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in managing our volunteer recruitment and enhancing the volunteer experience at Oxford City Farm. Here's an overview of the role:

  • Recruitment: You will manage the volunteer recruitment process, including advertising available positions, interviewing candidates, and matching them with suitable roles. Your goal is to engage volunteers from all sections of the community, with a focus on vulnerable and underrepresented groups.

  • Training: Develop and support the deliver of a schedule of training alongside our experienced team related to growing seasonal produce, animal care, cooking seasonal produce and interacting with nature. You'll ensure that volunteers are well-prepared for their roles.

  • Day-to-Day Management: Coordinate volunteer rotas, provide on-call support to animal care volunteers, and maintain a positive and supportive atmosphere by recognising volunteer efforts. You will also manage communication among volunteers and between the Farm and its volunteers, via Whatsapp, email and face to face meet ups.

  • Referrals: Manage relationships with partner organisations and community groups that refer clients or members to volunteer at the farm.

  • General: Handle general administrative duties, including managing inboxes, promoting the Farm at community events, maintaining databases, and contributing to the smooth running of the organisation.

Person Specification:

We're looking for someone who possesses the following:

  • Experience: Previous experience in line management of volunteers, community farming, project management, and marketing/communications.

  • Knowledge: Familiarity with the voluntary sector and strong IT skills, including Google Suite.

  • Skills and Abilities: Enthusiastic, self-motivated, and a strong team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You should also have good time management, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.

  • Values and Behaviors: Commitment to equal opportunities, an understanding of Oxford City Farm's mission, and a flexible, non-judgmental approach to people and work.
