Funding won for Oxford City Farm
Oxford City Farm is delighted to have won an award from the Big Lottery Celebrate England Fund to run a ‘Fun on the Farm’ community event on Saturday 7th October this year. The focus for the day will be on celebrating all the work our volunteers, Steering Group and supporters have put into securing a wonderful new green space for the local community.
We have lots of fun food-related activities planned including bring-a-plate picnic, apple pressing, music, craft activities for kids and lots more! It will also be a great opportunity for local people to see the site and share their ideas about how the farm will develop. The funding will also help us to build two toilets for the site – which I am sure will be very welcome news for our volunteers! – as well as employing an Event Coordinator and Community Artist to help us organise and run a successful community event
We are going to be given the cheque from the Big Lottery Fund and a photographer is coming to the site on Saturday 11th February – we were apparently the last group/charity to be awarded funding from the Celebrate England pot so they are putting together a special press release about Oxford City Farm and the ‘Fun on the Farm Event’ which is great news!

On Thursday 28th July, 30 Oxfam staff came on a Team Building Day to help Hazel, Nick and Phil out at the Oxford City Farm site.
Everyone worked hard all afternoon clearing rubble, ragwort weeds and brambles. They also made a new wood chip path and watered our fruit trees and vegetable beds. The team were all superstars.
After a sporty game of rounders many enjoyed a well deserved glass of elderflower cordial or Community Orchard cider to round off the afternoon.
Thank you Team Oxfam!
